By Will T This book absolutely hits home with the intended demographic. My inner child was thrilled with the adventure that the main characters embark on. Strickland does a wonderful job creating the various scenarios the characters find themselves in. The descriptions of the knights' environments displays the influence of previous legendary writers that have clearly had influence on the author. The story seems meant to spark the imaginations of high school-aged kids. In that regard, it hits the nail on the head. It's also a wonderfully refreshing take on the zombie genre. Knights vs. the undead. I'll take it.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Read this book or jump off a cliff By Rita K This was the best zombie book that I have ever read and one of my top 5 books ever. If you love Mideaval times and the zombie apocalypse you will love this tale of the three young Knights Banion,Edward, and Sean as they fight against the undead plague in their homeland of Ireland.

Will & Tom is a glimpse into the life of the infamous artist JMW Turner as a young man during a week spent at Harewood House fighting for a commission against his childhood friend and rival Tom Girtin.

1797, West Yorkshire.

When rising artist Will Turner arrives at Harewood House in high summer, his intention is to sketch the house and grounds, receive his commission and return to London, where he has started attracting serious attention at the Royal Academy.

But things at the grand house are not quite as he expects. The atmosphere is strange, both above and below stairs, and Will’s treatment by his hosts is surprisingly offhand. Most perplexing of all, however, is the appearance of another painter – his childhood friend and now rival, Tom Girtin. While Tom is welcomed into the aristocratic circle, Will finds few allies. As it becomes harder to ignore the whispers of scandal , Will witnesses something that will threaten both his commission and his friendship.

Alive with intrigue, artistic rivalry, Will & Tom offers a glimpse into the early life of Britain’s greatest painter, J M W Turner, through the story of a complicated, vibrant friendship, and how it is tested by the dark dynamic of art and power.

“Be quiet! What a silly little fluttering dove it is, struggling like this, ruffling all your plumes, and making your face so red. But how it becomes you!” “Mr Saul Harrington, how dare you!” “Because I love you so, you little beauty. There—and there—and there!” The kisses were given in spite of the frightened looks and struggles; but at each kiss there was a faint cry of shame, dislike, and indignation mingled. “You know I love you, and I know you love me.” “It is not true, sir. Let me go!”

Old plot with fantastic new twists By Larry, true dedicated reader The Mynn's Mystery George Manville Fenn(The book is listed as a paperback; but I read the kindle edition)I truly enjoyed reading this novel. This is the first book by Mr Fenn that I have read. I note that Amazon has quite a list of novels by this author. Most likely I will be reading them all.Another delightful book written at the turn of the century (19th to 20th). Mynn is an Old English manor house owned by an old very rich "uncle", who is dying. Our heroin, his "niece", lives in the home. The dastardly villain is attempting to have our heroin marry him, thinking she will inherit all the money (but will she ????) The uncle sends for our hero, who has been living in America for a number of years. But could our hero actually be a villain more dastardly than the previously mentioned villain ??? As you might suppose, there are a bunch of twists in the plot - some of which I haven't mentioned.I highly recommend reading this novel. If you do read it, please write a review to let me know what you think of it.

"An Elephant of Rock, I have lain here in the desert for countless ages, watching, waiting. I wonder for what!" Musings of the Elephant. Little Jim sat at the quarry edge and dangled his legs over the derrick pit. The derrick was out of commission because once more the lift cable had parted. Big Jim Manning, Little Jim's father, was down in the pit with Tomasso, his Italian helper, disentangling the cables, working silently, efficiently, as was his custom.

Well Written By Amazon Customer I read Ms. Morrows book titled The Heart Of The Desert I have rated that 5 and really liked it so I tried this one too. If you are a fan of the classics than you may like it more than I did. I didn't like this one as much only because there were some really sad parts and I prefer happy reading. The writing was well done hence the 4 star rating. Since I couldn't find a summary of this book anywhere I will give you a brief one.Still Jim isn't much of a talker hence the nickname "Still". He is brought up in a small town that his ancestors owned much of and lost. His father worked hard in the small town and had a beef with immigrants he felt that they were taking all the work at lower wages. He was pretty much a bigot and instilled some of his beliefs in "Still Jim". Big Jim wanted better for his son. His mother put his life before anyones and wanted him to live life to it's fullest. At 14 Jim is forced to leave for New York due to personal tragedy. He meets George "Sara" and they become great friends his later teen years are spend idolizing "Sara" a greek aristocrat. Penelope comes to live with him and he falls in love with her in a very quiet way. She is 4 years younger than him and prefers "Sara" to Jim this takes on twists and turns along the way. Jim goes on to make a name for himself leaving New York going on to build bridges out West. Subjects that were addressed were very true to life, there are portions of this book that concerned bigotry, corruption, death and love. It is a fairly realistic book no comedy or lightness. The book has a fairly happy ending so I was happy about that. I will try her other books and comment when I do.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Still Jim By Doris L. Kimbrell I thoroughly enjoyed Still Jim. It was a good mystery, and not so nasty with tons of cursing. I don't understand why some authors think that makes a better book. I would recommend anybody to read it.

The fall of 1864 finds Mosby’s Rangers in a violent clash with Sheridan’s Cavalry in the Shenandoah Valley… The nature of the fighting between the Confederacy and the Union has changed drastically from a once “gentlemanly conflict” to an all-out war of brutal treachery. Measured in terms of human life, the costly battles, lightning-quick raids, and secret missions effect the beginning of the end of the War Between the States, as President Lincoln finally finds a commander in Ulysses S. Grant who will fight Robert E. Lee without mercy. Homecoming at her family’s estate is nothing like what Salina Rose Hastings Barnes had ever imagined it could be. She returns to her native Virginia as a young wife and expectant mother, only to find that the place she holds so dear has been razed by order of Yankee major John Barnes. Corrupted by a festering decades-old vendetta, Barnes has sworn to annihilate not only the entire Hastings family, but also Salina’s husband, Captain Jeremy Barnes. The love Jeremy and Salina have for each other, combined with their faith in the Almighty, supplies them with the strength needed to endure trials that imperil their very lives. Unable to participate as actively as she once did in the Remnant, a civilian spy ring organized by her late father, Salina limits her war effort to nursing in a Richmond hospital and knitting socks for Southern soldiers. As belief in the Cause crumbles and notions of glorious victory elude the struggling Confederacy, Salina dreams of life with Jeremy beyond the war, and hopes to solve a painful mystery by discovering the identity of Jeremy’s true father. When all is said and done, Jeremy and Salina can testify that all things work together for God’s people, and that He alone is worthy of the glory and honor for the great things He has done. STRENGTH AND GLORY depicts the joys and woes of the Hastings family and their struggle to overcome the upheaval induced by America’s Civil War. Irrevocably changed, they all must come to terms with applying the lessons history has imposed upon them.

7 of 8 people found the following review helpful. A Winner! By Lizzie Richardson I have been patiently waiting the "final chapter" in the Shadowcreek Chronicles and it was well worth the wait! I was touched so many times following the story of Jeremy and Salina - through their trials, tribulations, and triumphs in war, life, and family. Ms. Renich has a great way with words. So many times I laughed, cried, and felt as if I was right there with them. I could see and feel all that they were. I even learned more about America's Civil War. Ms. Renich has saved her best for last in this series but I'm hoping that she will write more in the future.

It was more than I expected it to be. Like the first three books, I wasn't able to put this book down for more than a minute without my curiousity peaking of what was gonna happen next. I have to admit that I'm sad to think that it came to an end. I felt like I was actually in the story. It touched my heart tremendously. I think I'll be reading the series over and over. Thanks T. Elizabeth Renich for allowing me the chance to read these books.

There was an unnecessary death, which causes the mental breakdown of another person in the cast. I could have seen a way to make a happier ending even with the death. Overall not happy with the ending of this series.
