For some time I was prisoner to depression, and with some of my injuries a prisoner to my own body. My struggle continues, as all life must struggle to exist, but this is my story.

I think everyone will be able to see themselves in these poems. They speak to universal expressions and experiences of love - for a romantic partner, comrades in arms, and one's nation. Everyone has felt loss, and the internal experience of it is documented here in vivid detail. Everyone has regrets. A few of these poems touch down in that special hell with profound honesty and clarity, but the work doesn't dwell there. Rightly, the focus is on the continued struggle to live a fulfilling life in face of adversity, and the hope that has kept each and every reader alive despite seemingly overwhelming doubts about the future. This isn't a manual for living. It's an account of a couple of years worth of one man's journey.Bottom line: This is worth reading.
