3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. A thrilling read! By robbie ashmore I am an avid reader but rarely do I say I love a book. However, The 10th Legion is an exception. This is fascinating and accurate history woven into a novel with well-developed characters. Upon completing this first book in the series I found myself eagerly anticipating the second. There is a brotherhood that forms between men in the military, and in this novel you find yourself being drawn into that; slogging through the mud, dust and blood, learning the personalities, strengths and weaknesses of the men to your left and right. To me it seemed that the author himself must have trod those same paths, felt those same heartbreaking defeats and exhilarating victories. I look forward to many hours of enjoyment with this series. I was going to recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of history, but instead am going to recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of reading, period. When posting this review, I was given the choice to describe the mood of this book; the choices were: Hopeful, dark, nostalgic, lighthearted, suspenseful or thoughtful; my answer is yes to all of these things and more.
2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Great Read By Mousebag This is not my normal type of reading material, but have to say I could not put it down and finished it in 3 days. Apart from learning more about the Romans, I actually felt as if a film was rolling in my head as I read, Loved the character Felix, in your mind you could not stay mad with him for long, and he had me laughing at his antics. The way this has been written makes you feel the characters,Corvus especially, the deepness and buried emotions that make him so icy cold and Saxum thick of mind but no someone you would want against you that,s for sure. Anyway lets hope there are many more books to come about the mishaps and adventures of this Band of unlikely Brothers
