By Bookwyrm This was a great action/adventure story, and a bargain too, considering it was free for Kindle. It was published in 1893, but was not too hard to follow, and didn't break down into a ton of intrusive narration as the older style stories often do. A really good adventure yarn, and suitable for younger readers 12 and up, because the violence is mostly off camera, and the main characters do their best not to resort to brutality and bloodshed when less savage means are effective. In the tradition of the old pulps, the action never let up, and there were a multitude of plot twists that our heroes had to get themselves out of that kept me interested. My only critique was the ending was far too abrupt and rather trite; but for the most part, it was a very enjoyable read. It was so good, I picked up a couple more of the author's books to see what else he had to share. If you like seafaring yarns, this is a good one.
