0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Not What It Appears to Be By Bradford Caslon It seems to be a new book--and it is if you consider it was a "print on demand". But it turns out the book itself is a reprint of the same title of 1903 with the author listed as Francis Miltoun. (Turns out Francis Miltoun is a pseudonym for Milburg F. Mansfield.) No new text, no new illustrations or photos. Because of the time of authorship, the language is a bit stilted. Evidently the connection to M. F. Mansfield is that he was the spouse of the book's illustrator, Blanche McManus. I do like that the book has the text retyped, rather than photocopied. The size is a bit awkward, as it is 8.5x11.0 (like regular paper) size. There are no copyright markings or indications inside the book of where it originated.It would have been nice to know it was a reprint. Project Gutenberg is one place to look for this if you wish to see the whole book. Rated 'OK' as having the physical book is a plus.

Since I live near one of these cathedrals, it is interesting to realize that my hometown has changed since the book was written (it was bombed out during WWII). The 12th century was a time of great "foisonnement" and creativity, together with a great desire to worship and honor God through the building of cathedrals.Accessible for novices, this gives an interesting tour through the cathedrals of Northern France.

May be I missed that in the product description, but I was slightly disappointed. As of yet, I haven't read the book, so I will have to update this review once I do.Recommended for larger devices--maybe the images are visible on them.
